The Southend Utd Football in the Community Scheme was first launched in 1991. Many of the original activities are still being delivered, including after schools coaching, holiday soccer fun weeks and recreational activities for senior citizens. In 2004 the Football In The Community Scheme became a Community and Educational Trust - a company limited by guarantee and registered as a charity. Our board of trustees include representatives from Education, the Police, Local Authority and the Local Voluntary Services. As all good community organisations must do, Southend United Community and Educational Trust has responded to the changing needs of our local community, successfully adapting current work programmes and providing innovative new services. Our Mission Statement... "To provide sporting, recreational and educational activities that will enhance both the personal and social development of all participants." Our Vision... "To work in partnership with communities, continuing to deliver an inclusive range of educational, sporting and social opportunities, improving the quality of life for individuals and neighbourhoods in South East Essex."

Membership is totally free Connect South Essex is all about encouraging organisations and businesses to become part of the network

Am I committing myself?

Absolutely not, you decide what levels of commitment you would like to make and the Connect South Essex manager mediates with other organisations to see which organisations fit with you level of commitment.

Example: Pixelwork Ltd is a multimedia design studio and designs the Orsett Show schedules and showground map free of charge each year as part of their CSR policy.
The Orsett Show is a great family country event that has been running as a charity for a number of years.

The Benefits
The Orsett Show saves money and has quality design of its printed collateral
Pixelwork has a local enhanced CSR presence plus has its name on all the printed collateral at the event

Who runs Connect South Essex and how is it funded?

Connect South Essex is run and funded by Groundwork a charitable trust.
There is no membership charge, as we believe that it is far more beneficial to engage organisations and businesses. If however you felt your business or organisation were really benefiting from the service of Connect South Essex a donation would be gratefully received.
