Connect South Essex - Update
EVENT - The second Connect South Essex event on the 31st March 2009, at Sands Bistro / Restaurant in Southend-on-Sea was really positive with over 60 delegates. There was some very positive feedback in regard to the informative presentations and interesting speakers. As with the last event people stuck around for and networked after the event and some great connections were made.
NEW CSR OPPORTUNITY - Southend Borough Council has supported Connect South Essex and funded a project specifically targeted at Raising Aspirations in the Southend Area: by focusing on real work and real jobs.
The aim of the project is to create mutually beneficial links with local businesses assisting them as part of their CSR policy, to contribute to the achievements and economic wellbeing of young people, helping them aspire to real jobs in real business locally. Connect South Essex will shortly be contacting their members to see if they can would be interested in being involved in some positive CSR, by giving up a small amount of their time to go and talk to a group of young people in a school about the work and jobs they do.
The key focuses for this project will be:
Raising aspirations and achievement
Young people assisted into employment and career paths
People assisted with skills development
This is a great way for businesses to connect with young people and raise their CSR profile.
